Thales has secured a four-year contract from France's national rail operator SNCF to maintain ticket validation equipment across the Transilien train network in the Paris area.
The contract covers 4,300 ticket machines and associated systems spread over 400 stations across the Transilien rail network.
Thales will provide an information system for continuous monitoring of equipment repairs and other interventions via an internet portal.
Managing director of revenue collection systems at Thales, Laurent Eskenazi, said that the effective maintenance of equipment across the SNCF network would help provide a more efficient service for passengers.

"Thales will provide an information system for continuous monitoring of equipment repairs and other interventions via an internet portal."
"The solution that we proposed allows the SNCF to track, foresee and remotely view all interventions," Eskenazi said.
The Paris Transilien suburban rail network provides services throughout the Île-de-France region, with trains departing from Paris's main railway and RER stations, and the western business district of La Défense.
The Transilien is divided into six sectors according to SNCF guidelines, which are Transilien Paris - Est, Nord, Saint-Lazare, La Défense, Montparnasse and Transilien Paris - Lyon.
