Funkwerk has won a contract from German public transport firm Hamburger Hochbahn to install its Alister SIL 2 electronic interlocking for depot control at the Barmbek depot in Hamburg.
Hochbahn carries out the servicing, maintenance and repair work of its rail vehicles at the Barmbek depot, which includes five covered workshops, each of which has its own direct rail track access.
At present the Barmbek depot is controlled from a relay interlocking; as part of the contract the control area will be separated from the old interlocking and replaced with the new Alister electronic interlocking for depot control.
The deal also includes implementation of electronic interfaces to the adjacent relay interlocking, the central operations and monitoring control system (SBS) and the depot warning and door control systems.

It is possible to operate the Alister SIL 2 interlocking from a local workstation at the depot's interlocking building, by remote control from the control centre in Barmbek, or from Hochbahn's operations control centre.
For secondary operations, axle-counting reset panels will be equipped in front of every workshop door with two more auxiliary control panels in the track area.

Commissioning of the new interlocking is scheduled for 15 November 2013.
Funkwerk completed the installation of its Alister SIL 2 electronic interlocking at Hochbahn's smaller Saarlandstrasse depot in late 2012.
