The delivery marks the first of 182 Régiolis multiple-units ordered by 12 French regions under a contract signed by Alstom and SNCF in 2009.
The first 100 Régiolis trains are expected to be delivered to Alsace, Aquitaine, Lower Normandy, Lorraine and Picardy by the end of 2014.
The trains are due to complete dynamic testing in September 2013 before commencement of commercial operations in 2014.
Alstom's new trains will enter operations following the receipt of Commercial Operation Authorisation from the French Rail Safety Public Authority (EPSF).
Régiolis trains, which are part of a family of Alstom's range of regional Coradia trains, will come in three lengths: 56m, 72m and 110m.
"The delivery marks the first of 182 Régiolis multiple-units ordered by 12 French regions under a contract signed by Alstom and SNCF in 2009."
The trains will be powered by a bimodal (diesel/electric) or electric engine and are intended to offer cost-savings through low energy use and reduced maintenance costs.
Alstom is carrying out the design and assembly of the trains at its Reichshoffen facility, motor works at its Ornans plant, bogie manufacturing at Le Creusot, traction systems at the Tarbes facility, on-board computer systems at the Villeurbanne plant, and design at Saint-Ouen.
The French regions have invested a combined €2.6bn in new rolling stock to keep up with increasing passenger demand.
